PASS AMBASSADOR INFORMATION GUIDE
“Serving as a connection to the local church.”
PASS network for life assists and empowers the greater Southland communities to reduce or remove the desire for abortion by providing a network of valuable, practical, and confidential care through four pillars of ministry:
I. PREVENTION — IMPACT abstinence education
II. INTERVENTION — PASS pregnancy care center
III. EDUCATION — Abundant Life/Living Well Program
IV. RESTORATION — Hope and Healing
PASS network for life is founded on the gospel of Jesus Christ and all services are rooted in Jesus’ commands:
“Love one another, as I have loved you…” – John 13:34
“By this all men will know that you are my disciples…” – John 13:35
Sexual intimacy is shared only through the marriage covenant of a man and a woman.
Therefore, abstinence until marriage and faithfulness in marriage is our message.
God is the creator and sustainer of human life.
Therefore, sustaining human life is our message.
Salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Therefore, restoring the brokenhearted is our message.
Freely we receive, freely we give.
Therefore, no crisis pregnancy client is charged for our services.
STATEMENTS OF PRINCIPLE
- PASS is an outreach ministry of Jesus Christ through His church. Commensurate with this purpose, those who labor as PASS staff, board members, advisors, directors, and volunteers are expected to know Christ as Savior and Lord. Therefore, those ministering through PASS, present the Gospel of our Lord to those experiencing a crisis pregnancy-both in word and deed.2.
- PASS is committed, through One Voice One Accord guidelines, to providing its clients with accurate and useful information about abortion, adoption, parenting, lifestyle issues, abstinence, and the Gospel.
- PASS is committed to dealing with clients with integrity, earning their trust, providing accurate, truthful information and services. PASS denounces any form of deception in its corporate advertising or individual conversations with clients. All client information is held in confidence and only disclosed as required by mandated reporting law.
- PASS is committed to the sanctity of life, encouraging women to carry to term by providing emotional support and practical assistance. Through the provision of God’s people and the community at large, men and women may face the future with hope and plan constructively for themselves and their babies.
- PASS does not discriminate in providing services because of race, color, ethnic identification, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, or marital status of its clients.
- PASS does not recommend, provide, or refer for abortions or abortifacients.
- PASS offers crisis pregnancy assistance free-of-charge.
- PASS is committed to creating awareness within the local community that abortion compounds rather than resolves.
- PASS does not recommend, provide, or refer single women for contraceptives. Clients are encouraged to honor sexual integrity. Married women seeking contraceptive information are advised to seek counsel along with their husbands, from their pastor and physician.
- PASS recognizes the validity of adoption as one alternative to abortion, but is not biased toward adoption when compared to other life-saving alternatives. PASS is independent of adoption agencies, relating to them in the same manner as to other referral sources. PASS receives no payment of any kind from these agencies, does not enter into contractual relationships with them, and does not share combined office space. Adoption agencies are not established under the auspices of PASS. PASS neither initiate nor facilitates independent adoptions, though may refer for independent adoptions in states where legal.
OUR NATION’S ABORTION STATISTICS
Since 1973 when Roe v Wade legalized, a woman’s right to have an abortion has resulted in over 50 million abortions that have been performed in the United States. That’s over 3,700 babies aborted every day.
The Guttmacher (Gut-Mock-er) Institute, a Pro-Choice organization, expects 1 out of every 3 females of childbearing age will have experienced an abortion by age 45 and, approximately 21% of all pregnancies in the US end in elective abortion.
11% are teenagers 13-19
61% are women 20-29
29% are women 30 & over
46 % are single
54% are married, divorced or separated
54% identify themselves Christian (37% Protestants and 28 % Catholics)
38% claim no religious affiliation
39% are White
28% are Black
25% are Latina
9% are other races
Compared to the general US population, there are a disproportional percentage of Black and Hispanic women having abortions. These two minorities make up 30% of the overall population (14 % Black and 16 % Hispanic); yet they account for 53% of all abortions.
PASS’ VIEW ON ABORTION AND CONCEPTION (WHEN LIFE BEGINS)
Understanding our view on abortion must be preceded by understanding our view of when human life begins. Many people, including religious and political leaders create their own definitions for life. Personal or corporate views on life and abortion often advance a particular ideology disregarding truth in favor or promoting a belief or philosophy. Opinions without understanding facts can cloud life and abortion issues.
We define the beginning of human life both as evidenced in the 66 books of the Bible and in accordance with medically accurate definitions. While the Bible does not describe nor was it intended to define the medical knowledge we have today, both the Bible and today’s medical knowledge harmoniously agree that human life begins at conception. Medically, conception is the instant the egg and sperm unite. Biblically, conception is the beginning of human earthly life.
Human life begins when 23 chromosomes from the male sperm combine with 23 chromosomes from the female egg totaling 46 chromosomes. The medical term Zygote describes life immediately after the sperm fertilizes the egg. The Zygote may take 3 – 4 days to adhere to the mother’s uterine wall for further development and sustenance. Following the Zygote stage, the medical term Embryo describes life from conception and implantation in the uterus through the eighth week of development. Abortion is the term describing the discontinuation of life inside the womb regardless of time that life is in the womb. It is our view that a medical or surgical abortion is an intentional termination of an innocent human life.
Physical, emotional, mental, social, moral, and spiritual consequences for choosing to protect or choosing to terminate innocent life are life-long and unavoidable. It is our view that innocent life is sacred and to be protected and that forgiveness and restoration are available for women and men suffering from a post abortion decision.
IMPACT abstinence education
RELATIONSHIPS, LOVE & SEX –
Interactive presentations (for high school and junior high groups) provide “real talk” about sex and healthy life issues. Our programs do not assume that teens are going to have sex, regardless of what we tell them. The positive images and freedom abstinence allows has an overwhelming acceptance.
- Physical, Emotional, Mental, Social and Moral issues
- Guidance about Dating
- Risks of STDs
- Truth about “Safer Sex”
- Differences Between Sex & Love
- Cultural Influences
- Peer Pressures
BENEFITS OF ABSTINENCE UNTIL MARRIAGE AND FAITHFULNESS IN MARRIAGE
In 2009-10 we reached over 15,000 students with the abstinence-until-marriage message through the PASS IMPACT program, in the effort to reduce crisis pregnancy situations. In 2010-11 we have a vision to reach 17,000 students incorporating school districts from another pregnancy center, financially unable to continue its abstinence program. Our vision includes reaching more parents of pre teens and teens through parent seminars equipping parents teach their children the benefits of “Abstinence Until” and “Faithfulness In Marriage”. Expanding our IMPACT Student Mentorship Program, to involve more students from additional schools, giving students a place to meet and hold each other accountable for their decision to be abstinent, learning skills for building strong, healthy relationships and establishing marriage foundations.

In 2009 we reached over 2,000 crisis clients. In 2011 we have a vision to reach 3,000 women and men in crisis pregnancy situations, guiding them to see the value of life, love and family. We will continue to expand the Abundant Life Living Well Program to teach and empower people in their lives and relationships. We will spread the word through better communication to public and private schools regarding PASS services, i.e. ultrasounds, pregnancy testing, and compassionate relational care. We are intentional in our resolve to serve men in crisis pregnancy situations with the goal of men becoming loving and providing fathers.
HOPE & HEALING: freedom from your past, hope for your future
For those suffering from past hurts from childhood, feelings of isolation, depression or sadness, broken relationships, miscarriage, stillbirth, or an abortion decision. Recognizing that time does not heal every wound and your past does affect your life today, there’s Hope & Healing. The restoration arm of PASS encourages everyone to choose to live a life without regret or shame through Christ. PASS offers either a 12-week group or weekend renewal retreat that leads women and men to freedom from their past and restoration.
Annually PASS provides two 12-week group sessions and one weekend Hope & Healing Retreat Weekend. In 2011 we look to expand restoration programs to 3 / 12 week sessions, 2 weekend retreats and also begin a one-to-one segment of Hope & Healing and increase our attendance numbers at these sessions. Our years and experience in restoration lead us to a vision to create marketable curriculums for other US crisis pregnancy centers on post-experiential, post-traumatic and post-abortive healing.
MEN 4 WORK
As goes the man, so goes the family, church, society and nation
The effective male mentor is project-oriented. It is not enough to give someone a tool; we must also show them how it works. If one were to show up with a ball-peen hammer to help an older gentleman build a shed, he would look at you and laugh. A ball-peen hammer is made for a machinist, not a carpenter. We cannot complete the projects before us until we have the correct tools. This principle forms the philosophy behind our Men 4 Work program, as well as its three main guidelines.
Purpose: To teach life skills and form genuine relationships that produce change and exemplify the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Process: Influencing structures and principles while teaching basic skills through projects.
– Home maintenance
– Car maintenance
– Seasonal yard care
Progress: Understanding and implementing skills that promote mental and physical discipline with the guidance of a spiritually mature mentor.
PASS offers a Speakers Bureau to speak at your church events, church groups (youth groups, women’s groups, missions ministries) or, during a worship service—to raise awareness and address relevant issues in our culture. PASS currently offers:
- TRUTH, ABORTION, and YOU
- Fathers & Daughters, Mothers & Sons: Christian Character Development through Intentional Parenting
- Unleashing Your Parenting Skills.
Our vision is that the PASS Speakers Bureau will continue to grow in advancing pro-life / pro-family and edification. The PASS Speakers Bureau takes on an intentional, focused public speaking purpose to renew minds and transform lives on the pro-life / pro-family issues. Our vision is to improve our teaching effectiveness with clients, donors, and the public on abortion, adoption, sexual integrity, parenting, relationships, and the Gospel. This vision includes more classes, seminars, retreats, and symposiums on pro-life / pro-family initiatives.
SELF SUSTAINING INITIATIVES
Dependence on donor contributions alone is not sufficient to meet the day-to-day needs of the ministry. Thus we are actively seeking various self-sustaining initiatives that would generate on-going revenue streams for the long-term vision. These may include endowments, business ventures that would generate funds for the ministry, developing and marketing PASS curriculum to other pregnancy care centers and book publishing.
First Venture is our First Published Book Entitled: ALMOST GONE
On May 7, 2011, we are introducing our first book titled ALMOST GONE. We plan to utilize this as a means to change culture and develop funds for the mission. In 2011, we hope to start our second publication which may deal directly with abortion and post-abortion effects and the victories of restoration on individuals, communities and nations.
PASS has several client-related publications in process, i.e. Pregnancy Care Options, Parenting and Adoption, Relationships, Job Readiness, Trade Skill / College Readiness, Home Readiness and Personal Finances, Hope & Healing Leader Manual and Individual Workbooks.
PASS is seeking alternative, self-supporting initiatives that would complement the ministry. We see God’s call upon the ministry to reach more women and men affected by issues and consequences related to unplanned pregnancies, sex outside of marriage, education, post-abortive care, grieving and forgiveness.
HOW TO GET YOUR PASTOR AND CHURCH INVOLVED
How can PASS Ambassadors get their pastor involved? Dr. Jerry Kirk, President of the National Coalition Against Pornography states: “Show faithfulness, loyalty to the pastor and the church, and strong involvement in the life of the congregation… they need to be members of longevity. They ought to be persons who have not been known for a critical spirit, but persons who have a loving, deeply committed and edifying spirit. They need to have proven their loyalty to the life of the congregation by the depth of their involvement, both in terms of worship/service and in terms of ministry.” (Complete Article in Appendix)
Without the pastor’s support, it is very difficult to motivate a church to action. In other words, the PASTOR is fundamental to making this program work.

The reason we are able to do this is because of the financial partnership and benevolence with our churches, businesses and individual donors who support PASS. The following ideas are meant to create an excitement and develop the partnership of working together to accomplish His kingdom work. The truth is we need each other to fulfill all God has called us to accomplish.
– BABY SHOWERS
Encourage a ministry or group from your church (youth group, women’s group, seniors, small group, Boy/Girl Scouts, etc.) to host a Baby Shower for PASS. A “wish list” can be provided to share the current needs of PASS. A representative from PASS can be available to support and share the ministries of PASS at any scheduled event. – BABY BOTTLE BOOMERANG (BBB)
“BBB” is a fun fundraiser for your church children’s ministry, VBS, youth groups, or church-wide focus around SOHLS or Hike. BBB will create excitement and bring great rewards just by collecting spare change for life change! We like to refer to this as “pennies from heaven”.
PASS provides empty “PASS” labeled baby bottles to your church for distribution. You distribute the bottles and collect coins, bills and checks while sharing how PASS has ministered to thousands.
A form is included in your packet for participation. Fax the form to us at 708-614-7536 or call 708-614-9777 or email and ask to speak to Church Relations to schedule your BBBB Fundraising event. (See Appendix)
– MISSION BUDGET SUPPORT
PASS is a mission field right in your community! Meet with your church missions ministry to inquire how your church home can support PASS monthly or annually with a specific gift through your church’s tithes and offerings. Invite them to come for a “Tour of PASS” so they can see first-hand, this life-affirming ministry in our community.
– SPECIAL OFFERINGS
Thanksgiving, Christmas and SOHLS are a few times a year your church can collectively take up a special offering for PASS to support our ministries. A PASS speaker is available to come and share a few moments about reclaiming life—or, can equip you to share in your church home.
As Christians we were created to serve. Volunteers are PASS’ greatest treasure. Refer to the Ministry Overview for a list of volunteer opportunities. We train and equip the volunteer and value their time and talents. Encourage anyone interested to check us out! VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION – Is held at 7:00pm on the second Monday of each month at the Tinley Park Center. Please RSVP to 708-614-9777.
SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY (SOHLS)
“SEE, I HAVE ENGRAVED YOU ON THE PALMS OF MY HANDS.” – ISAIAH 49:16A
Held each year in January (closest to the date abortion was legalized), SOHLS commemorates the immeasurable value of human life. In 1973, the Supreme Court legalized abortion for all nine months of a pregnancy, for any reason. Since that time, over 50 million children have lost their lives and millions of women and men have been wounded by their abortion decision. Complete a RESOURCE ORDER FORM (See Appendix) requesting inserts, speaker, resources and display for your church’s SOHLS event.
- Work with your Pastor to set a Sunday that your church will promote PASS arrange for a speaker or we will equip you to be that voice, usually for 5-7 minutes. A written speech and outline will be provided.
- Host a PASS display table to promote PASS needs and services, allowing your church opportunities to partner in the pro-life cause.
- Work with your church to coordinate promoting SOHLS with brochures that can be used in your church bulletin or at communication area(s).
- Host a BBB in conjunction with SOHLS is a great way to raise the awareness about PASS and life!
– PASS HIKE FOR LIFE
The purpose of this event is to raise the awareness of what PASS does, to make a public statement for life, to create excitement for all the donors and their families. It is an opportunity for those most passionate about PASS to spread the word and raise donations to support the ministry.
Hike is held the weekend on Mother’s Day each year, Hike for Life offers a wonderful and fun-filled day for the whole family. It is an opportunity for individuals to raise support and to take a stand for life. Here’s how you can promote Hike! Work with your church administrator about promoting this event, hang promotional posters and flyers, utilize Hike inserts in your church bulletin and have available on your church’s resource center. Feel free to come up with fun ideas of how to involve your church family and youth groups!
– PASS ANNUAL FALL FUNDRAISING BANQUET
The purpose of this event is to raise the awareness of what PASS does, to grow existing support and bring new donors to the ministry. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Become a Table Host and invite 10 people you believe have an interest to learn about and be able to financially support PASS. Invite friends who have a heart for PASS and for life.
- PASS encourages relationships with those who have a love for PASS babies, moms and dads. Consider becoming a Table Captain to coordinate several people from your church or, area of influence to host tables at the Banquet.
– PRAYER THE SILENT PARTNER THAT ENABLES OUR ACTIONS TO SPEAK TRUTH, BRING PEACE AND GLORIFY GOD.
Jesus Christ is the source of strength at PASS network for life. We are keenly aware that in our own strength we will not be able to stand, but in His strength, as we agree together we will accomplish His will. It is our deepest prayer that we would be instrumental in bringing restoration, healing and wholeness to our great nation.
DAILY PRAYER GUIDE
Sunday / CLIENTS – For each client or student (men and women) that comes through PASS to see and feel God’s love for them through us, to receive salvation and wholeness, to have healing and deliverance, to forgive and be forgiven, to choose abstinence, to choose life, that many will be so moved and grateful to God for what they receive from PASS that they will serve others the way they have been served.
Monday / ADVOCATES, FACILIATATORS, VOLUNTEERS, STAFF & BOARD MEMBERS – That they will have strength of integrity, holy boldness, Godly wisdom and compassion. For protection and provision for them and their families physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. That their numbers increase, and meetings and training sessions will be effective and instructive.
Tuesday / POST-ABORTIVE & BROKENHEARTED – That those in need would be drawn to the Hope & Healing program, and as they participate, God will reach all of the broken places and bring salvation, healing, forgiveness, and restoration. Pray that God restores all the years that they believe they lost in grief, confusion and denial. That God will restore their heart and restore their families.
Wednesday / ABSTINENCE EDUCATION PROGRAM – That truth and the value of purity be clearly communicated. That students’ hearts and minds be convicted that the body is not an object. That parents would support and encourage a decision for abstinence, that the abstinence presenters reflect a life that is submitted to God’s perfect plan, that even in the secular presentation, participants become desperate to have the same type of relationship with God.
Thursday / PROGRAM PROVISION – Pray for Divine favor with potential donors; that the ministry would lack for nothing to meet the needs of His children; that PASS would be wise stewards and that in every decision the mind of Christ be evident. That every opportunity to solicit resources be met with open hearts, open hands and joyful giving.
Friday / ENLARGE OUR TENTS – That PASS services and Center hours would expand to reach lives and impact the culture of this generation and those to come. That we continue to have a far reaching ministry and that we provide for those who need help, and lead them to total dependence on God.
Saturday / REVIVAL IN OUR GREAT NATION – Doctors, nurses, government officials, ministers, teachers, students, families, and the media, be convicted and compelled to broadcast what God is doing through Pro-Life ministries like PASS; that all prolife ministries continue bring glory and honor to the Lord and create a renewed vigilance to reduce and remove the need for abortion in our communities and throughout the world.
